Networking tips from Smit Patel.
I’ve been following Smit Patel on Twitter for quite some time now. For all of you that don’t know who he is, let me enlighten you to the best of my ability.
Smit is the founder of Play Cashtag in which you buy and sell shares of hashtags on Twitter. Very cool concept in my opinion. This can also develop into something more. I mean the more I think about how Twitter Hashtags and it’s comparison to the Stock market the more I realize that this might be great for predicting trends. I know that their are systems out that there that might already do that but to do it within a 140 character limit might be a different story.
He also is working on Founders MatchUp. Which helps entrepreneurs find co-founders for their startups. As far as I can tell this event is going to be taking place in Boston. After all he is a Boston Native.
He recently has written a blog post on Networking for Entrepreneurs. His post a basic outline on how to prep for events. I personally found this blog refreshing and not just for the fact that it’s an outline but because HE ACTUALLY DID THIS. He created a game plan prior to the event and executed at the event.
I’m writing the blog post for a few reasons, one being that a lot of people should use this strategy. I also want to point out that this strategy isn’t just for the entrepreneur but for anybody going to any event. For instance, if you are going to a career fair. Do your research on the companies you want to apply for and get to know a bit more about them.
Another reason for this blog post is because I want to go on record on watching out for him. He’s hustling on make something fun and useful. He also wants to bring what he’s learning and to teach to others. (I hope he teaches a Skillshare class)
